In a high security prison setting, the story seemed a little lightweight, but poignant nonetheless!
In order for love to bloom and prosper, sometimes the story of the soul's murder must come out and be told - the murder solved or the murder identified at least! Love is sometimes woven together with the exchange of stories of one's abuse and demise, what buried you and made you invisible, what shamed and humiliated you. The grace of love is sometimes more likely to descend when honestly has revealed all that went into creating this creature that one desires to spend one's life with. The journey must be made to the imprisoned heart to free it from its bonds of trauma!
The Corpse Bride is a gorgeous toy with an incredible facial expression. She believes she has found a true husband when she is discovered by Victor. She pins her hopes on him! She knows she did not deserve her fate and the horrible ways in which she was treated, all because she did not love the brute who sought to wrest her hand from her impoverished parents who were willing to compromise.
Healing needs to take place in the core and this story may be about that. Sometimes it takes us a long time to discover our core. For instance, the 12-Step Addiction program shows how far from the soul we can go, the difficulty of finding one’s way back,, the simple fact one can not do it alone, and the need of the above world/ego world and the core/underworld to make contact and work out their differences. This story is about that process! The Corpse Bride buried in the frozen ground, her flesh having rotted away, clearly shows how damaged the soul can become and how even in that state it reaches out for assistance, contact, and love!
