Caveats & Disclaimers
Toy Quantities Are Limited – But Probably Always Findable, Though Costly
We have limited quantities of all our toys – they will run out at some point. We will always suggest places to find a particular toy or suggest possible substitutes that cover the same psychological/spiritual ground. The packaging of our toys is not typically pristine, though many are. We just want them in play, not put in a museum setting. They can’t change the world if they’re not put in play!
The Quality of Some of These Toys is Extraordinary
You see less and less of this kind of quality available in the toy marketplace. No more ToysRUs or KB Toys to find the latest masterpieces! There are some toys made well today, but some of those cost in the hundreds of dollars and are sculpted, large, absolutely amazing, but not well-suited to bringing with you. McFarlane’s Movie Maniacs is an example of a reasonably priced toy today that has very good quality.
Toys That Use Batteries Can’t Be Guaranteed
Some of our toys are easily 20 years old and use batteries to produce sounds or phrases. We don’t want to open the packages and find out if the batteries still work as people typically prefer to open the package themselves - it’s part of the excitement of a new toy!~ We apologize for the aging process, and we hope the batteries hold up, as it makes the toys all the more exciting! So far I haven’t had a toy that had corrosion, but that streak is not likely to last!
Hermes’ Web, Ltd. seeks to serve those who serve the toys
We value them for what they offer to life. Our primary aim is not about serving collectors as we want the toys to come out of the box and be used therapeutically. A few of our toys are already out of the box, intentionally, when we sell them. Our prices, though higher than you might be able to find elsewhere, reflect the work that has gone into discerning the messages and finding ways to communicate them as well as providing a refuge for these toys for decades, assembling the components to manufacture webs, writing the materials that go with the Web and toys, and experimenting in all manner of situations to see if the toys are effective. We also wish to be an ongoing and dependable resource for those who allow the toys to join their workforce!
Owning a Toy
To us at Hermes’ Web, buying/owning a toy does not just mean possession, having paid for it. We prefer to see “owning a toy” as entering the toy’s world, learning its stories, connecting to the meaning of those stories, finding ways to communicate the story and its wisdom and experience to others, and treating the toys with respect, reverence, and humor. Then it is “owned.” Clients are sometimes told: “own your shit!” The same principles apply! Once clients in a treatment program start to own their behaviors and psychological issues, they have a chance at managing their liabilities and becoming better people. We want these toys to be “owned,” and we will assist as much as we can to facilitate that process for our customers and their clientele, family, and friends. As soon as possible, each toy will have an “owner’s manual” type document available that will present aspects of the story, techniques, anecdotes, background, etc.—-a guide for starting the journey!! Those “owner’s manuals” will be included as part of the price of the toys and you will get a link so that you can download the document when you purchase that toy. The length and depth of these manuals will vary with the toys and their complexity. They will include recommendations for readings/books and videos/films that will assist in utilizing the toys.
